Peter Diers departs Claire's for VP, Data and Operations role at furniture firm Vesta

Vesta has appointed Peter Diers as VP, Data and Operations. He joins from Claire’s where he served as VP, Global Inventory Management.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: “I am thrilled to share that I have joined Vesta Home as VP, Data & Operations. It is a fantastic brand with a great leadership team. I am eager to contribute to our ongoing success.”

Claire’s

The future of Claire's was recently secured in the UK with the sale of more than half of its stores.

Modella Capital, which bought the WH Smith high street stores, purchased "substantially most" of Claire's UK, the administrators confirmed. The deal saves approximately 1,000 jobs and 156 stores, but 145 other locations were not included in the deal.

Interpath, which led the sales process, said there were about 1,000 employees across those stores that were not transferring to Modella.

Natasha Harbinson, Interpath's Managing Director, said: "We are pleased to confirm a sale of the majority of Claire's UK business and assets which will ensure this popular brand will continue to trade on High Streets up and down the UK."

Will Wright, Interpath's UK Chief Executive and joint administrator, added: "Our intention is to continue to trade the remaining portfolio of stores for as long as we can, while we explore the options available."

Joe Price, Managing Director at Modella Capital, said: "We strongly believe this much loved brand deserves the chance to remain on the High Street in the UK and Ireland."

Claire's, he observed, was facing "significant" issues and Modella Capital would need to "work collaboratively with all interested parties" if the rescue plan was to succeed.

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Physical stores were a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

VoCoVo, Everseen, Sensei, Gander, Iceland, Olio, Trust Retail, East of England Co-op, Lekkerland SE, Poq, Mamas & Papas, Varner, Sitoo, and Zebra Technologies were among our winners this year.

We received a record number of entries and many fantastic examples of the continued resilience and dynamism of the retail space during hugely challenging times.

For a full rundown of all of the shortlisted entries, click here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC in Central London on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
