Company veteran Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty announces his departure from Uber and delivery side of business

Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty is leaving Uber where he has spent the past 13 years, most recently heading up the delivery side of the business, including the Uber Eats app.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: "What an emotional day for me, announcing my departure from Uber after nearly 13 years. It’s hard to overstate how lucky and privileged I feel to have been part of this journey, and grateful to the teams that made my time here so special."

"Like I told the company just now, there is never a perfect time but a few things informed my decision. First, I’m deeply proud of what we’ve built in Delivery and incredibly grateful for the team that made it happen.”

“I remember telling Dara Khosrowshahi (Uber CEO) when I accepted the role that I was eager to prove the sceptics wrong - today, our Delivery business is roughly the same size as our Mobility business, growing 18% YoY, delivering $3 billion+ of annual EBITDA and importantly having a meaningful impact in the lives of millions of merchants, couriers and consumers around the world."

"Second, I am lucky to be surrounded by hugely talented leaders who are ready to take on more. As someone who has benefited enormously from the company betting on its people, I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities that my departure and Andrew Macdonald’s appointment will create for some of them to step up and broaden their impact. Susan Anderson, Sarfraz Maredia, and Pradeep Parameswaran in particular - all long time Uber veterans - are three of the best operators I’ve worked with, and I am thrilled for them to be joining the ELT."

He concluded: "There are millions of memories I’ll take with me as I move on. Now, if I were to keep one thing, it’s this sense of ownership that has guided me through the ups and downs, and which likely makes it so hard for me to hold back my tears today.”

“I have treated Uber like my own company all along, and I am convinced that a big part of our success is a function of so many of the Uber team doing exactly that every single day. To that point, I couldn't be more excited for Mac to step up as COO - there is no better owner, and so much of my growth has been a function of watching him operate as a friend, colleague and peer."

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Rapid delivery will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards, which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
