Marks and Spencer announces Mobile Pay Go roll-out
M&S has expanded its Mobile Pay Go technology to 50 stores, following a trial across Edgware Road, Bankside, Waterside Paddington, West Hampstead, Canary Wharf and Stratford Westfield in London.
49 of the 50 stores are in London, with the other one being in Manchester. M&S says that it chose them based on their huge popularity at peak times. The technology, it adds, has been a big hit with busy lunchtime shoppers.
To use the service, customers open their M&S app on iPhone or Android (they must be signed up to Sparks). They then scan products as they shop or once they’ve shopped (up to the value of £30). They click checkout to pay using the card that’s saved in the app and then leave the store without visiting a till.
“We are changing to become a digital first retailer with industry-leading store operations - and Mobile Pay Go is a really exciting part of that,” says Sacha Berendji Director of Retail, Operations and Property at M&S.
“Today’s roll-out means more of our customers will be able to benefit from this popular technology and enjoy a seamless shopping experience, which we know is especially important at lunchtime.”
