Walmart has appointed Sean Scott as SVP AI Shopping. He was previously GM Shopping at Google and also spent almost 15 years at Amazon, holding such roles as VP - Amazon Scout.
“Super excited to start my next chapter with one of the largest retailers in the world. Truly humbling to be part of a 60+ year old company that's still growing like a startup and still driving significant value to customers and shareholders alike. So much great progress already and so much more to come,” he says.
“We’re at a pivotal moment where AI is transforming how people shop, and yet there's so much still to figure out,” says Daniel Danker, EVP AI Acceleration, Product, and Design at Walmart.
“What is the uncompromising and transformative experience that changes how we shop, online and in-store, and truly lives up to the words "immersive" and "personalied"? How do we build trust in an agentic world? How do we serve customers wherever they are, making shopping effortless and anticipatory? And how do we use AI to empower associates so they can serve harness the technology to serve customers even better?”
He adds: “Sean has spent his career building exactly these kinds of experiences, and he’ll play a big role in helping us bring our vision to life. Welcome to Walmart, Sean, couldn’t ask for a better moment to get started!”
RTIH AI in Retail Awards
RTIH proudly presents the first edition of its AI in Retail Awards, sponsored by VenHub Global, 3D Cloud and EdTech Innovation Hub.
As we witness a digital transformation revolution across all channels, AI tools are reshaping the omnichannel game, from personalising customer experiences to optimising inventory, uncovering insights into consumer behaviour, and enhancing the human element of retailers' businesses.
With 2026 set to be the year when AI and especially gen AI shake off the ‘heavily hyped’ tag and become embedded in retail business processes, our newly launched awards celebrate global technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world and the resulting benefits for retailers, shoppers and employees.
Our 2026 winners will be those companies who not only recognise the potential of AI, but also make it usable in everyday work - resulting in more efficiency and innovation in all areas.
Winners will be announced at an evening event at The Barbican in Central London on Thursday, 29th January. This will kick off with a drinks reception in the stunning Conservatory, followed by a three course meal, and awards ceremony in the Garden Room.
