Żabka Group hits AiFi powered autonomous Nano stores milestone
Polish convenience giant Żabka Group has opened its 50th Żabka Nano checkout-free store.
These leverage AI powered computer vision technology created via cooperation with AiFi.
In a LinkedIn post, Patryk Powierża, Żabka Nano Growth, said: “BOOM! Store number 50 has been opened.”
“After about a year from opening the first autonomous outlet, we have reached the milestone of 50 stores.”
“That number strengthens our position as the biggest chain of autonomous stores in Europe. Easily you can estimate one week – now new store. It’s HUGE!”
DPD and Cartken make autonomous delivery robots move in Milton Keynes
DPD is to commence autonomous robot deliveries in two Milton Keynes neighbourhoods, as part of a trial with Cartken.
The DPD branded robots, which will operate out of the firm's Knowlhill depot, will navigate the city's traffic-free Redway network to access the residential neighbourhoods of Shenley Church End and Shenley Lodge.
Powered by AI technology, the robots are currently ‘learning' the routes and will then be able to find their way to delivery addresses, fully autonomously.
Cartken's tech is currently being used by Mitsubishi Electric in Japan, and Grubhub in the United States.
The Very Group appoints former Walmart Japan exec Lionel Desclée as Group CEO
The Very Group, operator of digital retailers Very and Littlewoods, has appointed retail veteran Lionel Desclée as Group CEO.
He will come onboard on 19th September. Current Group CEO Henry Birch will step down on 24th September after four and a half years in the role.
Desclée joins from McKinsey & Company, where he is a senior advisor.
He previously spent three years as President and CEO of Walmart in Japan, where he led a 35,000 strong team at Seiyu, the Japanese supermarket business.
Getir UK offers free Lurpak butter as shoppers fume over soaring prices
Rapid grocery delivery firm Getir is giving away free Lurpak butter in the UK.
The product has gone viral as Brits take to social media to reveal how much its price has risen in various supermarkets.
The obsession reached a peak this week, making mainstream media headlines aplenty, with a 1kg tub of Lurpak spotted for £9.35 by one person.
Getir shoppers can go on its app and get a free tub of the butter delivered straight to their door when they spend a minimum of £20.
The offer is available while stocks last, so you should probably get your skates on.

These moves offer immersive 3D experiences, but they do not allow consumers to travel or move among different environments.
Netto Imagr smart shopping cart trial hits five stores in Denmark
Netto is testing out a shopping cart from Imagr that scans items and handles payment, enabling shoppers to skip checkout queues.
This is now live at Kirkegårdsvej in Copenhagen, Kongelundsvej in Copenhagen, Runevej in Aarhus, Bybuen in Skovlunde and Virum.
The shopper’s smartphone is connected to the shopping cart via the Netto+ app. When the cart is filled with goods, these are automatically registered with the user receiving a digital receipt.
The trial is set to run until July.
Deliveroo teams with Criteo for new advertising platform
Deliveroo has announced the launch of a new advertising platform, Deliveroo Media and E-commerce.
The rapid delivery firm is working on this offering with Criteo who are supplying the advertising technology and media sales services.
Brands will be able to advertise to Deliveroo customers with relevant offers across its app, on the company’s website and as part of social media, email and push notification campaigns.
For the first time, advertising is planned for Deliveroo’s order tracker page, with new formats to launch over the coming months, alongside sponsored search listings.
The venture’s network of delivery only ‘Editions’ kitchens and rapid grocery delivery ‘HOP’ stores are also part of the new advertising proposition.
Evri and Zedify announce Bristol based sustainable last mile delivery trial
Evri is trialling a delivery solution with Zedify, using pedal powered electric vehicles such as cargo bikes, as part of the company’s sustainable last mile strategy.
This is taking place in Bristol.
