Waitrose ramps up Deliveroo rapid grocery delivery partnership

Waitrose has more than doubled its range on Deliveroo with over 2,000 lines now available.

In a LinkedIn post on Friday, Tom Richards, Online Trading Lead at Waitrose & Partners, said: “A big thanks to Naomi Cheung (Online Merchandiser) and Luke Suares-Whaley (Convenience Range Analyst and Planner) in particular for the huge effort which went into this.”

He added: “We’ve also popped in a cheeky Rosé & Jalapeño category for the hot weekend. Thanks to Simone Rutter (Online Merchandiser) for spotting this trend going viral on TikTok.”

Deliveroo Hop

Earlier this year, Waitrose kicked off a trial of the Deliveroo Hop rapid delivery service which launched in September 2021.

The first Hop delivery only store, in partnership with Waitrose, opened in Bermondsey, London during February, giving access from 8am-midnight each day to products in as little as ten minutes.

The trial built on Waitrose’s existing quick commerce partnership with Deliveroo, which delivers food from 150 of the retailer’s stores across the UK.

James Bailey, Executive Director, Waitrose, said: “It’s important that we continue to evolve along with shopping behaviour to give our customers more options for how and when they want to shop with us.”

“Deliveroo has given us more flexibility in meeting customers' needs and expanding our successful partnership to trial 'Hop' gives us an exciting opportunity to introduce more new customers to the excellent food and drink we offer."

Carlo Mocci, Chief Business Officer UK&I, Deliveroo, commented: “Deliveroo Hop complements our existing on-demand grocery service and will build on our successful partnership with Waitrose, improving the consumer experience and bringing a wide range of groceries and household products to consumers’ doors in as little as 10 minutes.”
