Pizza Express taps social media for golden dough balls initiative

Pizza Express is celebrating its 55th birthday with a treasure hunt, offering Brits the chance to win a £1,000 voucher.

The restaurant chain announced on Instagram that it will hide 55 golden dough balls around the UK from Sunday, 9th February (National Pizza Day, don’t you know) to Friday, 27th March, its 55th birthday.

These will not only be placed in restaurants, but also in orders made through Deliveroo and Pizza Express’ Cook At Home range, available at selected supermarkets.

Clues will be shared via Stories on the company’s Instagram account from Sunday and those who find a golden dough ball will be invited to flag up their good fortune by using the hashtag #PE55.

PizzaExpress MD Zoe Bowley says: “Following last year’s celebration of our iconic dough ball, we’re incredibly excited to be bringing back the hunt for our 55th anniversary. With the search for 55 balls culminating on our very own birthday, we hope everyone joins in with what is set to be a truly epic celebration.”
