Iceland Foods Head of IT Emma Tysoe talks retail tech supporting daily ops

Emma Tysoe, Head of IT Development - Stores & Marketing Systems at Iceland Foods, recently spent time on the frontline of retail, checking out the vital role played by her department.

In a LinkedIn post, she said: “Great two days spent last week with my IT colleagues, supporting our Manningham Food Warehouse Team.”

“We worked the store from serving our customers at the till to picking their online orders and delivering their shopping to their front door.”

Tysoe continued: “It was a great opportunity to see how the IT systems we have developed support the daily operation and how we can continue to add value and enhance them in the future.”

“I love getting out and into our stores. It’s a fabulous reminder of how hard all our colleagues work across our Iceland/Food Warehouse business to make it the great place to work that it is.”

RangeMe

Earlier this year, Iceland and The Food Warehouse teamed up with global product discovery platform RangeMe.

They now have access to more than 800,000 products from over 200,000 suppliers.

Their team of buyers will tap RangeMe’s software to discover brands and products faster, connect with suppliers, request samples, and discuss next steps.

Andrew Staniland, Trading Director at Iceland, said: “Joining forces with RangeMe has already transformed our sourcing and buying process.”

“Our customers have increasingly diverse tastes and preferences and RangeMe’s technology presents us with opportunity from the global product market on one screen”

He added: “Huge opportunity exists in collaborating. Embracing new technology, as we have with RangeMe, is key to getting ahead in the retail industry.”

“This partnership has streamlined our approach to buying and sourcing and we will continue to maximise the software to supercharge our efforts to get the best of the best onto the shelves in our stores as quickly as possible.”
