Marks and Spencer notches up virtual Valentine’s Day record

Marks and Spencer Online has reported a record breaking Valentine’s Day.

“There was an unprecedented amount of love being shared this year and, as a result, I am incredibly proud to say that we’ve delivered our best ever Valentine’s Day online for flowers and food gifting,” Sreena Jamieson, Head of Online Trading & Digital Marketing (Foods) at M&S, said in a LinkedIn post.

She added: “A huge congratulations and heartfelt thank you to my amazingly talented team who have worked tirelessly to achieve this. A massive thank you also to all the numerous teams around M&S that work tirelessly to continually help and support us.”

M&S has now launched its Mother’s Day flowers and food gifting offering online. “I am so excited as we have some truly beautiful products to help keep spreading the love,” Jamieson commented.

Video retail pilot

Last week, M&S launched a video chat service for online shoppers, linking them to sofa experts in-store.

It partnered with Go InStore and Appointedd on this.

The experts will walk customers around the M&S White City, London store, helping them to browse the retailer’s ranges and showing them fabrics, colours etc. They will be available 9am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

“So pleased to have launched our pilot. Three weeks from start to go live, to launch an on demand and pre-booked furniture service with our colleagues in White City,” Clive Hudson, Senior Programme Manager Digital Stores at M&S, said.

”Demand and feedback has exceeded all expectations. A great achievement from a small cross functional team, delivered under our 10x Digital Stores Programme.”
