Six retail technology investments that should be on your radar

These retailers and brands are leading the way in providing technology and experiences that are one step ahead of their customers’ expectations.

1. Coleman Furniture

Coleman Furniture is among the early adopters of Syte’s AI powered product discovery platform.

2. Albertsons Cos

Albertsons Companies and Google have announced a multi-year omnichannel customer experience partnership.

The two have been collaborating behind the scenes for the past year and are now debuting several new features that aim to make the shopping experience easier and more exciting.

3. M&S

Marks and Spencer has opened Sparks Book & Shop slots for 12th April, the date that coronavirus restrictions are eased and non-essential retailers reopen in England.

“Book & Shop has also been extended until the end of April, meaning customers can beat the queue and carry on shopping with confidence,” the retailer tweeted.

4. Tesco

Tesco is working on an epic project involving Google’s local inventory ads feature.

This allows companies to showcase their products and shop information to nearby people searching with Google.

When shoppers click an ad or free listing that shows their local product, they arrive on a Google-hosted page for the shop, called the local shop front. They can use this to view in-store inventory, see opening times, find directions etc.

5. Waitrose

Technology that prevents fishing nets being lost at sea is among a number of projects helping in the fight against plastic pollution, nearly two years after being awarded funding from Waitrose.

A new report flags progress made by the retailer’s Plan Plastic - The Million Pound Challenge, which was launched in 2019.

6. Starbucks

Starbucks will this month be highlighting its Planet Positive initiative and inviting customers to participate in a number of ways.

This includes the launch of a Starbucks Earth Month Game to its loyalty members.

They will get the chance to win more than 2.5 million prizes, cast a vote towards tree reforestation projects, and learn more about the Planet Positive commitment.
