Six retail technology investments that should be on your radar

These brands are leading the way in providing retail systems and experiences that are one step ahead of their customers’ expectations.

1. Woolworths Group

Woolworths Group has announced plans for its first automated customer fulfilment centre (CFC) in Auburn, New South Wales as it looks to better serve the online grocery needs of Western Sydney customers.

If approved by the NSW Government, the retailer will build the facility in partnership with Knapp, whose automation technology will help personal shoppers pick and dispatch up to 50,000 deliveries a week.

2. The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company is leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the global roll-out of its online streaming video services Disney+.

It is using AWS as its preferred public cloud infrastructure provider to expand Disney+ to 59 countries across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.

3. Kroger

Not to be outdone by Amazon and Walmart, The Kroger Co. has teamed with Drone Express, part of TELEGRID Technologies, for a pilot involving grocery delivery via autonomous drones.

4. Asda

Asda has launched Our Inclusion Network, a digital platform where its 140,000 employees can be part of the retailer’s inclusion initiatives and discussions.

5. Wakefern Food Corp.

US-based Wakefern Food Corp. is expanding its use of CitrusAd’s retail media technology.

Earlier this year, the retailer-owned cooperative launched the tech for sponsored products and display ads across its e-commerce platform.

It is now including native, in-app advertising.

6. Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

Perfect Corp. has partnered with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics on the launch of a personalised online beauty consultation.

Going live in the US, the augmented reality and artificial intelligence powered mobile web offering invites customers to receive customised, instant product recommendations via virtual try-on by Bobbi Brown make-up artists.
