Amazon Just Walk Out tech powered Viking Market store launches at North Park University in Chicago

Amazon has launched a new checkout-free store in partnership with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality at North Park University in Chicago, USA.

In a LinkedIn post, Cameron Schelhorn Salem, Senior Technical Business Development at Amazon Web Services (AWS), said: “The new Viking Market powered by Just Walk Out technology and AWS is in the newly remodelled Commuter Lounge, providing commuter students a place to gather and shop with their meal plan (powered by Grubhub) for quick snacks, beverages, university apparel, and more.”

INTER&Co Stadium

Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride have boosted the fan experience at INTER&Co Stadium, becoming the first soccer specific venue to offer Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology for retail.

People will be able to take advantage of the upgrade at The Den, the official team store of both clubs which is operated by Fanatics, a digital sports platform and provider of fan apparel.

With Just Walk Out, guests enter the store, take what they like, and leave, sometimes even wearing their fan gear, by using their credit card at the exit gate.

When they leave the store with their purchase, the RFID tags in their clothing and other apparel they select are read by RFID readers in the exit area, and the credit card they use to exit will be charged.

Shortly after exiting, they will be able to access their receipt online.

“As we continue to listen to and act upon fan feedback, our goal is to deliver the best match day experience in professional sports at INTER&Co Stadium,” says Orlando City and Orlando Pride President of Business Operations, Jarrod Dillon.

“The addition of Just Walk Out technology will be a significant enhancement that will not only simplify our check out experience, but allow our fans to get back to match action faster than ever.”

“This investment is one of many we are making this offseason and continues to build off of the grab-and-go concession changes we added in 2023, as well as our continuously expanding Orlando Made food and beverage programme.”

In a LinkedIn post, Sarah Yacoub, Head of Marketing at Just Walk Out technology, Amazon Dash Cart, said:

“Our Merch Kits use RFID to simplify the apparel and team swag checkout experience for fans, while ensuring item level accuracy for retailers. Exciting innovations coming soon for Orlando soccer fans.”
