Joe Jorczak steps away from autonomous stores specialist AiFi and Chief Revenue Officer role
Joe Jorczak is departing check-out free store firm, AiFi, where he held the role of Chief Revenue Officer.
In a LinkedIn post, he said: “After a breathtaking 2+ years, it’s time for me to step away from AiFi. When CEO Steve Carlin recruited me in 2022, the message that resonated the most was to help us create the future of retail. I’m proud to say that AiFi has done (and continues to do) just that.”
“Scaling an early stage startup is not for the faint of heart. I’m grateful to have learned much from my leadership colleagues and many others, along with our investors. Your vision and dedication will take AiFi to new heights. I’m also beyond fortunate to have worked with an outstanding global sales and account management team. You all helped make this journey one of the most rewarding of my career.”
He added: “Together, we grew SaaS revenues substantially, launched dozens of new checkout-free stores, strengthened critical customer relationships, and created new partnerships with industry leading F&B, grocery, convenience, and campus operators. We opened the most advanced sports venue in the world at the Intuit Dome (46 activations!) and started expanding beyond autonomous retail into RFID and multi-industry spatial intelligence. Without a doubt, the best is yet to come.”
Jorczak concluded: “While transitions always bring mixed emotions, a good friend shared that there are no new beginnings without an ending. For now, I’m excited to have some time with my family before the next adventure. I’ll be cheering AiFi on and look forward to staying connected.”

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Check-out free stores will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards. which will open for entries in March, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
