On taps Trove tech for Onward circular economy programme

Performance sportswear brand On has announced the launch of Onward, a resale site and online trade-in programme powered by Trove.

Consumers will be able to shop and trade in pre-owned On footwear, with the initiative expanding to include apparel in the near future.

A2Z preps Cust2Mate smart carts pilot with Thailand’s The Mall Group

A2Z Smart Technologies Corp. has announced a pilot programme for its Cust2Mate smart carts with Thailand’s The Mall Group.

This will take place in the Gourmet Market area and for the first time involve integration with the Fujitsu PoS system. It will be run in five stores and the integration process will start in the coming weeks.

The smart carts recognise every purchased item and enable in-cart payment so that shoppers can skip lines, while also allowing retail grocers to direct shoppers to discounted products and in-store promotions.

Digitally connected San Francisco 49ers taps Avery Dennison retail technology

The San Francisco 49ers and Avery Dennison have announced an exclusive partnership that will provide new fan engagement avenues via digitally connected clothing technology.

As part of this, Avery Dennison has become the official embellishment partner of the 49ers and will introduce digital connectivity into select 49ers Fanatics merchandise in the form of smart embellishments and digital labels.

This deal also marks the first major foray into American football for Embelex, Avery Dennison’s solution for on-garment branding.

eBay teams with Reskinned to expand preloved offering

eBay has announced a new partnership with Reskinned to expand the online marketplace’s offering of preloved items and reduce growing fashion waste.

Reskinned takes back worn items from shoppers and reconditions them for resale, repurpose or recycle.

It is currently working with over 30 brands, including Finisterre, Sweaty Betty, River Island, and most recently Joules.

Items from Reskinned are generally priced around 40% lower than their high street price.

JCPenney teams with Revieve for digital makeup and skincare experiences push

JCPenney has announced a partnership with Revieve, a personalised digital brand experience company.

As a part of this collaboration, the retailer is launching a collection of digital makeup and skincare experiences to “not only serve all customers better, but meet their diverse needs and help them experience retail in innovative ways”.

Following the launch of JCPenney Beauty, a new, inclusive beauty experience, JCPenney has taken the wraps off an AI powered skincare advisor experience and AR powered makeup try-on capabilities.

Bloomingdale's enlists Emperia for virtual store launch

To celebrate its 150 year anniversary, Bloomingdale's has introduced a new, futuristic virtual store, designed by Emperia.

This will feature exclusive collections from brands Such As Polo Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, David Yurman, MCM, Byredo, and Baccarat.

The retailer will introduce the virtual store during New York Fashion Week as part of one of its biggest anniversary campaigns that will feature tie ups across the United States with designers, exclusive merchandise, and multiple national events.

The offering features a video of the evolution of the brand, in addition to games, special surprises and a Bloomingdale's unique collection, designed exclusively for its anniversary celebrations.

Jisp celebrates one year of Scan & Save offering

Jisp, a UK-based money saving and rewards app, is celebrating its Scan & Save solution’s first anniversary.

Launching with Nisa on 13th September 2021, this is now operational in over 170 Nisa stores nationwide.

In the space of one year, Jisp has seen thousands of shoppers make over 500,000 scans in-store, with 330,000 money saving vouchers issued and 292,000 redemptions made.

Karakuri raids Kraft Heinz for Kevin Garry appointment

Food robotics company, Karakuri, has announced the appointment of Kevin Garry as its new Director of Global Business Development.

Garry will be pivotal to the firm’s focus on the global QSR market through the development of commercial partnerships for its latest range of kitchen robotics innovation. 

He previously held the role of UK Channel Lead for QSR and Leisure at Kraft Heinz, as well as foodservice roles with Kerry Group and McDonalds UK.

Israeli grocery retailer Shufersal taps Trigo tech for autonomous store launch

Trigo reports that it is opening a hybrid autonomous store with Israel’s largest grocery retailer, Shufersal.

In an online post, Michael Gabay, CEO at Trigo, says: “It goes without saying that we are excited to launch a store in Tel Aviv, which is not only the home of the world renowned ‘startup nation,’ but Trigo’s HQ as well.”

He adds: “This Shufersal branch is representative of Tel Aviv, between its proximity to the beach as well as its central location; it is in the hub of the innovation capital of Israel.”

“This was no accident – Shufersal deliberately chose the heart of a city full of open minded and tech savvy people as the home for the country’s first frictionless checkout store.”
