Retail veteran Nicola Thompson departs The White Company and takes on CEO role at TentBox
Nicola Thompson has joined British roof top tent brand TentBox as CEO, working alongside founders Oliver Shurville and Neill Shurville.
She was previously at The White Company where she served as Chief Commercial Officer, and has also worked at Made.com and Asos.
In a LinkedIn post, she said: "TentBox is one of those rare brands that’s built more than a business; it’s created a movement. Born from passion and creativity, it’s about helping people connect more deeply with life through everyday adventure.”
“What Ollie and Neill have built is hugely impressive, and I’m looking forward to helping shape the next chapter of growth together. A huge thank you to Paula Nickolds and everyone at The White Company: it’s been a privilege to work with such talented, kind and committed people. Here’s to new adventures ahead."
Zapp
The White Company has joined the quick commerce movement and is making a curated edit of its most popular products available to customers for home delivery in minutes, 24/7.
It has partnered with London-based Zapp for this.
The move comes as the latter launches a new subscription service designed to give loyal customers more value and make Christmas shopping effortless. Zapp+ includes what is pitched as an industry first 10% credit back on all orders above £30 and free delivery, for just £4.99 a month.
Holly Tabor, Partnerships and International Business Director, at The White Company, says: “We are entering gifting season when busy people want to order easily, at a time that suits them and be confident their order will arrive in minutes, with the same luxury experience that you would expect from The White Company.”
“This new partnership with Zapp will mean we can meet changing consumer demands and offer a curated edit of our collection favourites - be that a last minute present or a little luxury for the home - instantly.”
Rowan Lawson, Director of Operations at Zapp, says: “We are delighted to add The White Company to a fantastic array of premium brands available on our app. It reflects the change in how people are shopping - they no longer want to wait for next day delivery or battle high street crowds, and expect luxury gifts to be available immediately, 24/7.”
The White Company will be available through Zapp Boutique, a premium and luxury focused ‘store within a store’ offering.
2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
On demand delivery was a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
We received a record number of entries and many fantastic examples of the continued resilience and dynamism of the retail space during hugely challenging times.
For a full rundown of all of the shortlisted entries, click here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC in Central London on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
