Footwear retailer shoezone expands omnichannel and marketing strategy with new mobile app launch

shoezone, an online and in-store footwear retailer, has launched a new app, available to shoppers on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The aim here is to improve customers’ digital shopping experience with new features, including wishlist functions and an interactive returns portal. It was produced in conjunction with mobile app developers, Swipe & Tap.

Customers will be able to choose from a wide selection of own and name brand styles. The app features the same intuitive filtering functions on the retailer's website, allowing customers to search products by different promotions, including shoezone’s ongoing ‘2 pairs of shoes for £10’ and an extensive clearance outlet section.

Customers will receive a personalised shopping experience through exclusive discounts, with integration across shoezone’s store network. Its express delivery service - offering free next day delivery at no minimum spend - is also fully integrated into the app.

The offering sees an expansion of shoezone’s marketing capabilities, facilitating push notifications to users, which look to be a significant focus for 2025. Since launch, this approach has proven successful, with a conversion rate 17% higher than email.

Results so far show the app is converting at a rate 8% higher than their website, as downloads continue to increase by an average of 24% a week. A spokesperson for shoezone says:  “It’s exciting to officially launch our app, and ensure all shoppers have easy access to affordable footwear. We believe it’s our responsibility to ensure customers have the same outstanding shopping experience that you’d expect in a shoezone store.”

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Mobile retail will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards. which will open for entries in March, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
