AI powered consumer insights specialist i-Genie bags $7.5 million in Series A funding

i-Genie, an AI powered consumer insights platform founded by former Unilever EVP Stan Sthanunathan, and Paul van Gendt, who ran the People Data Centre at Unilever, has raised $7.5 million in Series A funding.

The round was led by Mudita Ventures and Silicon Road Ventures, with participation from retail and marketing tech investors Deborah Weinswig, Todd E. Benson and Vine Stone Ventures.

“i-Genie is democratising access to actionable insights across our organisation in 30 countries. It has enabled our Category and Customer Teams to go beyond “following” trending consumer pulse into LEADING insight generation  by delivering  complex analysis in a simple, streamlined and powerful platform immediately” says Analia De la Fuente, Global Chief Insights and Analytics Officer at Bayer.

“This level of speed and precision transforms how we innovate and compete globally.”

The company delivers insights across 25+ countries, supports 20+ languages with native NLP, and powers decision-making for the likes of Kenvue, Unilever, Bayer, Coca-Cola, Danone, and Clorox.

Trevor Sumner, meanwhile, has joined as CEO, bringing with him expertise in marketing tech, AI and SaaS scaling and enterprise technology.

“Using agentic AI and always on intelligence, i-Genie unleashes access to insights for executives at a global scale and makes every business decision smarter,” he says. “With this funding and our expanded leadership team, we’re building the most democratised, agentic insights platform in the industry.”

Stan Sthanunathan, Co-Founder at i-Genie, says: “Consumer insights are at a moment of massive disruption. Surveys have dominated for decades, but they are too slow, too biased, and too narrow. AI and NLP allow us to capture signals in real time and at scale.”

“With Trevor at the helm, I am more excited than ever to see i-Genie lead this transformation, and I remain deeply engaged as we reshape the category together.”

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

AI will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards. which are now closed for entries with our finalists and shortlists being announced last week, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
