New immersive social gaming experience SPYSCAPE opens today in London’s Covent Garden

New York museum and interactive experience SPYSCAPE, which has attracted more than a million visitors since its launch, lands today in Covent Garden, London.

Based at 45 Wellington Street, SPYSCAPE London aims to provide a new take on immersive activities, blending the history, art and science of espionage and psychology.

The 25,000 sqft venue asks visitors to step into the shoes of an intelligence operative through a series of personalised immersive challenges. It is pitched at families, schools and corporate groups, aiming to provide an entertaining and educational experience.

New immersive social gaming experience SPYSCAPE opens today in London’s Covent Garden

Designed specifically for London audiences, SPYSCAPE promises to test spy skills used in everyday life such as empathy, perception, observation, analysis, and risk taking. Each visitor will be given a 40-page profile of their personality, skills and attributes, providing insight into the roles they are best suited to both as spies and elsewhere.

Visitors can choose from one of two ticketed experiences: SPYSCAPE, a narrative led interactive museum based on challenges developed by a former Head of Training at MI6, and SPYGAME, a social gaming experience that sees teams complete in fun, high tech challenges designed with expertise from the CIA and Special Ops.

Before leaving, each visitor will be assigned a mission that continues beyond the experience’s walls and into the streets of Covent Garden, where the story continues. This feature is unique to the Covent Garden location.

“Your mission, should you choose to accept it. Is to discover what kind of spy you really are,” comments James, a secret operative and SPYSCAPE’s anonymous spokesperson. “You don’t need to scale the Burj Khalifa or hang off a helicopter to be a spy. Spying has always been about mindset. Or, as a certain agent once said, ‘Know your enemy - and know yourself.”

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Immersive experiences will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards, which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
