Romain Roulleau turns a page as he prepares for Digital and Commerce Director role at Kingfisher Group

Romain Roulleau will, in early January, take on the role of Digital and Commerce Director at Kingfisher Group, reporting directly to CEO Thierry Garnier.

He has been with Kingfisher Group for almost five and a half years and currently serves as Chief Marketing, Digital & Customer Officer Castorama and Managing Director Retail Media Kingfisher.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: “This is a great opportunity that will allow me to continue the extraordinary work developed in recent years by Marc Vicente, around digital transformation and e-commerce, and acceleration initiatives such as marketplaces and retail media, supporting all our brands in Europe.”

“Our omnichannel potential is significant, we do have strong ambitions on the digitalisation of our models, and I am sincerely delighted to take on this major challenge. It is also with great emotion that I am about to turn this page in France, within Kingfisher France (Castorama and Brico Depot) and more recently with a focus on Castorama.”

“These last five years have been just crazy: personal arrival in the North of France in September 2019, and seven months later, the Covid wave... with what it changed for our personal lives and consumer behaviours.”

He added: “Since then, I have lost count of all these wonderful projects, new activities, the transformation we have led with my teams:”

“Positioning of the Castorama brand, fivefold increase in our e-commerce sales, launch of new loyalty programs for our individual and professional customers, digitalisation of our media plans and communication, new services around energy renovation and circularity, launch of the Castorama marketplace, creation of our subsidiary Kingfisher Retail Media France, and last but not least, development of Hello Casto, the first virtual AI advisor in DIY in Europe.”

“All this, with committed, positive, creative teams, who have managed to accelerate and transform smartly and deeply this beautiful heritage brand that is Castorama. Thanks again... and of course I will not be far and will continue to support you, like all the Digital and Customer teams from all Kingfisher banners.”

“And finally, thanks to Thierry Garnier for his trust, and to Alain Rabec, Franck Moreno, and Pascal Gil, who have helped and supported me during these five years, and to the Kingfisher France and Castorama France boards, with whom I have spent these rich and strong moments.”

2024 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Omnichannel retail was a key focus area at the sixth edition of the RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards, sponsored by Vista Technology Support, Scala, CADS, 3D Cloud, Brightpearl by Sage’s Lightning 50, Business France, and Retail Technology Show 2025, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended last night’s gathering.
