Topshop makes return to high street with launch of exclusive popups in four John Lewis stores
Topshop is returning to physical retail with a series of exclusive pop-ups launching in select John Lewis locations, five years after it closed all of its UK stores.
Launching from 3rd November, Topshop will be available in four stores across the country with pop-ups on the womenswear floor of John Lewis’ London Oxford Street, Bristol, Leeds, and Liverpool branches.
Each one will feature a curated selection of around 30 pieces, changing weekly and available in-store and via the John Lewis app.
The first 100 customers in each store will receive a Topshop tote bag, with further giveaways planned throughout the six-week takeover. In Oxford Street, the brand will host weekly DJ sessions every Thursday evening from 13th November.
Michelle Wilson, Managing Director at Topshop, says: “We’ve seen an incredible response to our return, and we know our customers are excited to shop the brand in person again. By taking our winter and party collections beyond London, the pop-ups bring our signature energy and style to locations across the UK, just in time for the festive season.”
Rachel Morgans, Director of Fashion at John Lewis, says: "John Lewis is the home of Christmas, which is when our customers are looking for those key seasonal must-haves. We've been listening to how excited they are for Topshop's return, so as their sole nationwide partner, this felt like the perfect moment for a 'teaser' pop-up.”
“We're bringing a curated edit of statement winter and partywear to our stores in London's Oxford Street, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, and on our app. It's an exciting glimpse of what's to come next year."
The initiative comes ahead of a full scale launch in 32 John Lewis stores, with Topman in six of the stores, which is scheduled for February next year.
A big hitter during the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s, Topshop disappeared following the collapse of Sir Philip Green's retail empire, which owned the brand as well as Burton and Dorothy Perkins.
The Topshop name was bought by Asos, which sold its majority stake last September to the Danish retail tycoon Anders Holch Povlsen.
2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Physical retail was a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
We received a record number of entries and many fantastic examples of the continued resilience and dynamism of the retail space during hugely challenging times.
For a full rundown of all of the shortlisted entries, click here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC in Central London on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
