RADAR launches AI data analytics platform with aim of unlocking real-time intelligence in stores

RADAR, a platform that combines RFID and computer vision technology to track and locate in-store inventory, has announced the launch of RADAR+, an AI analytics offering.

This builds on existing inventory tracking technology to provide real-time store intelligence. The platform is designed to help maximise sales, plan demand and allocations, prioritise workflows and support sales associates to provide a superior customer experience.

RADAR+ tracks which products are taken into fitting rooms and which picked up items convert into sales. It also detects inventory and identifies when items have been misplaced within the store or left in a fitting room.

RADAR says the technology can improve workflows and on-floor product availability by making real-time replenishment recommendations to store staff. This ensures the fastest selling items are back on the floor first and minimises the risk of lost sales when products are out of place.

“In the world of retail, physical stores have historically been a data desert,” explains Glenn Burwell, Vice President of Product and Customer Experience at RADAR.

“By leveraging AI and machine learning to power advanced analytics, RADAR+ is taking retail into a new era. This new platform builds on our core capabilities to provide real-time inventory and intelligence to store staff while also giving corporate leaders the same level of visibility in each store as they have with their e-commerce channels, so they can optimise the entire store, from inventory planning to merchandising, distribution and operations.”

RADAR also provides corporate teams with hourly updates on metrics including customer dwell time, on-floor availability of merchandise and product replenishment time at each store in their networks.

“The role of physical stores has expanded, with many serving dual roles as fulfilment centres for online orders and buy online, pick up in-store orders,” adds Eric Mogil, Chief Growth Officer at RADAR.

“Meanwhile, retailers need to do more with leaner inventories, given today’s macroeconomic pressures. RADAR+ lets retailers see the placement and movement of every single item in every store - in real-time - so they can maximise sales and profitability and consistently deliver an excellent customer experience. It’s what the retail industry has been looking for and we’re delighted to now launch it to the market.”
