Convenience retailer OXXO teams with RELEX Solutions to refine demand forecasts for stores in Mexico

OXXO, a convenience store chain in the Americas, has selected RELEX Solutions to increase the accuracy of its product demand forecasts. The chosen solution will serve OXXO’s 22,000 locations in Mexico.

This part of the retailer’s digitalisation process and preparation for expansion in the coming years.

Tern Capital acquires retail space planning specialist and 2023 RTIH Innovation Awards sponsor CADS

CADS, a UK-based firm that operates in the retail planning and software market sectors, has announced its acquisition by Tern Capital.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In a press release, CADS says that the decision to join forces with Tern was made by its board alongside its Dutch owners Boskalis with “careful consideration of how it would benefit employees, clients, partners, and stakeholders.”

“This strategic move aims to enhance capabilities, expand reach, and reinforce CADS’ commitment to delivering exceptional services and solutions”.

It adds: “At the heart of this acquisition is the shared vision of both organisations – to empower CADS to further elevate its offerings and remain at the forefront of the industry.”

“With the support and resources of Tern, we will continue to provide the same level of outstanding service and dedication that our clients and partners have always enjoyed.”

Shopify gets physical as it launches PoS hardware for bricks and mortar retailers in UK and Ireland

E-commerce big hitter Shopify is launching PoS Go in the UK and Ireland.

Pitched as an all in one PoS mobile selling device, this builds on the firm’s Shopify PoS offering.

Amazon UK expands grocery offering with Iceland as online partner, opens new Amazon Fresh store

Amazon UK is partnering with Iceland to make its groceries available to Prime members, with same day delivery options available, and opening a new Amazon Fresh store in London.

The service will initially be available in selected postcodes within Greater Manchester, before being rolled out in more locations in the coming months.

The supermarket follows Morrisons and Co-op in making their grocery offerings available through Amazon. All items will be sourced directly from a local Iceland store.

The new Amazon Fresh store opens this week in London’s Liverpool Street.

Hillarys expands partnership with CCaaS specialist IPI as retailer transitions from on-premise to cloud

Hillarys, a retailer of made to measure blinds, curtains, and shutters, has selected IPI’s contact centre-as-a-service (CCaaS) offering, ElasticCX CCaaS, as it transitions away from its incumbent on-premise telephony solution.

The move marks the start of Hillarys’ staged migration to the cloud and is part of its ongoing strategy to enhance its contact centre operations. 

Finnish co-operative retailer S Group inks five year electronic shelf labels deal with Pricer

S Group has chosen Pricer as its electronic shelf labels (ESL) supplier and signed a framework agreement for five years.

S Group is a customer owned network of companies in the retail and service sectors, with more than 1,000 retail outlets in Finland.

The biggest business area is supermarket trade, which is covered by five chains. The largest chains are the supermarket chain S-market (440+ stores) and hypermarket Prisma (70+ outlets).

Although there are no minimum commitments for volumes or values under the agreement that cover all brands, S Group will make pilot installations in 17 stores (nine Prisma and eight S-market) during 2023, with the intention of doing installations in 300 stores during the coming years.

The solution is based on the platform Pricer Plaza, which provides a cloud-based software offering that enables the chains to centrally manage and control pricing, product information, and promotions across all ESLs in all connected stores.

Vivobarefoot announces partnership with Circ to work on chemical recycling for circular footwear

Footwear manufacturer Vivobarefoot has partnered with textiles recycling company Circ to design and develop footwear uppers made entirely of a single material (polyester) that can be chemically recycled and reused in the production of new footwear without the need to add any virgin materials.
