Inclusive Technology Innovation shortlist as follows:
For 2024, we’ve decided to carve out a separate category to showcase what is being delivered in the inclusive shopping space, and shine a light on what is a huge, untapped retail customer/service market that suppliers and retailers are now really leaning in to and embracing more fully.
This award will go to a retailer or brand that has tapped innovative technology to put inclusion at the core of its values. The winning entry will show how a company has boosted its inclusive credentials whilst also demonstrating the tangible business benefits involved.
Currys
A Currys trial of accessibility tool WelcoMe is designed with inclusivity right at the heart; the partnership is already having an impact on making in-store shopping easier for customers with disabilities.
Customers register their specific requirements prior to visiting a local Currys store, which allows colleagues to prepare for, and personalise their visit.
Ikea
Ikea UK has partnered with Tesco UK and taken part in a global test and trial project for pick-up lockers.
The lockers have been specially designed to meet the specific needs of customers and can easily accommodate everything from single home furnishing accessories to even the largest furniture orders.
Lynx Educate
Lynx Educate is a workforce education platform that helps retail companies offer learning beyond the day to day as a way to differentiate employer brand and retain talent.
In the first year of its partnership with flagship client Deliveroo, Lynx has helped over 130,000 riders and their family members access learning programmes that enable them to upskill and create opportunities for their future.
Snappy Shopper
By continuing to offer cash payments, Snappy Shopper ensures that customers who may not have access to digital payments are still able to benefit from the convenience of home delivery.
Additionally, the introduction of a guest checkout option allows users to place orders without creating an account, providing a seamless experience for those who prefer simplicity or have limited time.
Verifone
Verifone has launched Navigator, an innovation designed to revolutionise the use of Android touch payment terminals. As the industry rapidly evolves towards fully digital interfaces, particular attention is being paid to ensuring that these advances benefit all users, including those with visual impairments.
