River Island picks Tryzens as digital partner for Shopify platform migration
UK fashion retailer River Island is migrating to Shopify with the latter’s partner Tryzens Global.
Phase one of the project focuses on international operations, with Shopify at the core, with the aim of reducing complexity and unlocking growth quickly.
In a LinkedIn post, Deann Evans, Managing Director EMEA at Shopify, said: “Shopify + Tryzens is a powerful combination for enterprise brands ready to move beyond legacy platforms and grow internationally. It’s engineered for speed, governance, and outcomes, so retailers can spend less time wrestling systems and more time serving customers.”
She added: “For multi‑market retailers, this is the blueprint: de‑risked delivery, predictable timelines, and continuity for teams and customers. Congratulations to the River Island, Tryzens, and Shopify teams on this next chapter. I can’t wait to see this come to life.”
“This partnership will allow us to build a modern and more efficient digital foundation without compromising our ambition for our brand or customer proposition. Tryzens has extensive enterprise experience and demonstrates not just technical depth, but the delivery and governance disciplines necessary for us to take this leap with confidence,” commented Simon Pakenham-Walsh, CIO at River Island.
“River Island is an iconic brand that has been a pioneer in the world of fashions on so many fronts over the decades. Their ambition to reach new markets and new customers whilst staying true to their brand requires the ability to adapt efficiently at pace,” said Andy Burton, CEO at Tryzens Global.
“We are honoured to have been selected to support Simon on this transformation programme and get them to value faster, with a technology stack that is simpler to run, quicker to innovate, and engineered for the realities of enterprise retail. We’re proud to partner with them on this next exciting chapter.”
2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Online retail was a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
We received a record number of entries and many fantastic examples of the continued resilience and dynamism of the retail space during hugely challenging times.
For a full rundown of all of the shortlisted entries, click here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC in Central London on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
