RTIH rounds up the stand out retail systems deals, deployments and pilots from the past seven days. Featuring Pets at Home, Asda, boohoo group/Debenhams, Target, Amazon and AMC Theatres.

Asda is extending its Express Delivery service to 96 stores.

The service gives customers access to the retailer’s full online range of more than 30,000 grocery products for delivery within one hour, if they live within a three mile radius of a participating store and order up to 70 items.

FatFace has announced a partnership with Thrift+, offering customers online and in-store the option to resell their old clothes through the latter’s platform. 

Online retailer Buy It Direct Group has opened a new robotic TV recycling plant. 

Situated in Elland, West Yorkshire, this will process one million screens next year, with the company claiming that it will be the largest TV and screen recycler in the UK.

GXO Logistics and Abercrombie & Fitch have reached an agreement to open a new 715,000 square foot distribution centre in Goodyear, Arizona, USA. 

This will serve as the retailer’s new hub for its West Coast operations when it becomes fully operational in late 2021.

The automated facility will feature goods to person robots. Analytics, including AI and machine learning, will also be deployed at the site, with the aim of delivering fast, efficient distribution of products to customers.

Taboola has announced the results of its 2021 campaign with pet food company Lily’s Kitchen, which has reached over 1.1 million target consumers in eight months.

American cinema giant AMC Theatres is now accepting cryptocurrencies as payment for digital gift cards.

This can be done via the AMC website, mobile app and in theatres, CEO Adam Aron announced this week.

Spanish fashion retailer, Desigual, says that it has increased employee engagement and streamlined operational efficiencies in partnership with Yoobic.

As part of a digital transformation project, it recognised the need to modernise and streamline communications and visual merchandising processes and compliance across its store network and, accordingly, deployed Yoobic’s mobile platform.

SberMarket, a grocery and off-the-shelf goods online delivery service, has partnered with METRO to open what is pitched as the first joint dark store (aka micro-fulfilment centre) in Moscow.

Nhood has signed an agreement with Situm to implement indoor location technology in its shopping centres. 

The first deployment, covering navigation, mapping and customised promotions for shoppers, will be at the Vialia Estación mall in Vigo, Spain, which opened its doors last month. 

Amazon has opened the doors to the first Amazon 4-star store outside of the US. 

Situated in Bluewater, this offers a range of products that are rated four stars and above, are top sellers, or are trending on Amazon’s UK site, including consumer electronics, toys, games, books, kitchen, and home.

Customers can purchase online and collect orders at the store as soon as the next day. It also offers parcel free, label free returns for items purchased both in store and online.

Digital price tags are located alongside each product with the item price, average star rating, and the number of customer reviews.

Amazon account holders will pay the price as they would on the UK site. Prime members will receive exclusive perks and deals throughout the store. 

Asda is set to implement several SaaS-based capabilities within Blue Yonder’s Luminate Planning, Luminate Commerce and Luminate Logistics solutions, as well as Luminate Control Tower.

With the UK grocery giant needing to transition from its legacy solutions as a result of moving to a UK-based ownership, it was looking for end-to-end retail solutions that would cover commercial, supply chain, logistics, and retail operations. 

This includes artificial intelligence powered forecasting, end-to-end supply chain visibility, omnichannel fulfilment, and workforce management capabilities.  

Fashion retailer, boohoo group, has launched a Debenhams online marketplace, powered by Mirakl technology. 

As part of a Love Brings Love tribute to late founder Alber Elbaz, fashion startup AZ Factory has launched a range of limited edition t-shirts that will each come with a unique NFT.

The five organic cotton t-shirt styles feature a specific quote from the designer, as well as signature grosgrain ribbon embroidery and hand drawn prints. 

Each one is linked to its own NFT of an original Elbaz drawing. As there will be a limited number of NFTs produced for each shirt, the drawings will also show its original identification number, helping to verify and track ownership. 

Avery Dennison has announced a partnership with lifestyle brand UpWest, and ReCircled, an apparel and footwear recycling and reuse focused organisation. 

This taps the former’s Digital Care Label solution, showing how it can be used in an upcycling context and provide a retail/brand experience.

Piglet in bed, a bedwear and linen retailer, has partnered with Wunderkind, a consumer engagement platform that scales one-to-one messages for retailers and brands, to power its personalisation capabilities.

Russia’s largest consumer electronics retailer, M.Video-Eldorado Group, has partnered with Yandex.Cloud to fully move customer facing digital products development and operations to the cloud. 

Go Instore has announced a partnership with Pets at Home.

The retailer will tap its HD-video technology that enables customers and their pets to connect with store colleagues via video calls.
