Premier League club Newcastle United extends partnership with parcel lockers specialist InPost UK
Newcastle United has announced an extension of its partnership with parcel delivery service, InPost. This follows a first 12 months of the tie up which has seen a number of community activations reach thousands of fans in the North East.
To kick things off, InPost installed bespoke lockers at St. James’s Park, the first in the country at a Premier League stadium, and has since gone on to form a key part of the club’s newly launched e-commerce offering, giving fans the option of online deliveries to be sent to any locker across the UK.
InPost has also partnered with the club and Newcastle United Foundation on a number of community initiatives.
As part of a campaign to support the club’s mental health engagements in October 2024, it captured personal wellbeing messages from first team players and placed them inside its lockers for its customers to read – proving “what’s inside really does matter”.
And this month the Newcastle United Foundation will launch a collaborative art project with InPost. The project will feature artwork created by local school pupils, alongside contributions from a local artist.
Newcastle United’s Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Silverstone, says: “Over the past 12 months, InPost has become immersed in the football club and city. We have been able to offer bespoke, localised services to our supporters which are powerful, positive and meaningful to the Newcastle community. As a result, this partnership has been a resounding success for both parties and is testament to the incredible spirit that has been forged so quickly with InPost.”
“InPost is on an incredible journey as one of Europe’s fastest growing businesses and we’re excited to build on our shared ambitions for success and growth. Working with such an exciting, dynamic and fast growing business, like ourselves, has ensured the relationship has delivered learnings and value for both parties.”
“Extending this wide reaching partnership, at such an early stage in our relationship, is also illustrative of the support everyone across the club, and Newcastle United Foundation, provides to our partners. We pride ourselves in exceeding our partners’ servicing expectations and I am delighted InPost has recognised this in their decision to extend our relationship.”
Michael Rouse, CEO International at InPost Group, says: “Our partnership with Newcastle United reflects a shared ambition to make a tangible difference – both for the club’s supporters and the wider community.”
“Together, we are building meaningful connections with thousands of consumers and supporting the communities at the heart of InPost and Newcastle United. We look forward to growing this partnership and providing even more consumers with new initiatives and innovative delivery solutions for the future.”
2024 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
Online delivery was a key focus area for the sixth edition of the RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards, sponsored by Vista Technology Support, Scala, CADS, 3D Cloud, Brightpearl by Sage’s Lightning 50, Business France, and Retail Technology Show 2025, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended last month’s gathering.
