East of England Co-op

Sustainable Retail Innovation shortlist as follows:

Traditionally, the biggest problem with sustainable technology solutions has been in the relatively high cost of implementation, often meaning that scaling them was not viable.

Things change, however, with incentives, targets and climate pledges as well as the rapid iteration of innovative technologies driving down costs in various areas.

This award will go to a retailer or brand that has worked with technology suppliers to put sustainability at the core of its values. The winning entry will show how a company has boosted its green credentials whilst also demonstrating the tangible business benefits of sustainable practices.

Anthropics Technology

Anthropics Technology are makers of Zyler Virtual Try-On - AI powered technology for fashion brands and retailers that allows customers to see garments on themselves virtually, in a few simple steps.

ChapsVision

Launched in May 2024 in a joint venture with Easy Cash, NextLife Tech is an all in one solution transforming the second-hand market. Designed for brands and retailers integrating circular economy practices, it simplifies purchasing, fair pricing, and resale of used products.

Datitude and QSA Partners

The EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) Sandbox project is a brilliant example of sustainable retail innovation; working with the fashion industry to show a new approach to EPR can deliver better circular economy outcomes.

East of England Co-op and Retail Insight

Partnering with Retail Insight, East of England (EoE) Co-op deployed WasteInsight, using AI to automate dynamic markdowns.

Additional integration with EoE Co-op’s electronic shelf labels (ESLs) also delivered prompted markdowns, creating further labour hour savings, turbo-charging existing in-store tech, reducing Capex and increasing ROI.

Facilio and Robert Dyas

Using a technology-led approach and gamification, Robert Dyas was able to drive a competitive spirit among employees, and make sustainability a daily habit, resulting in significant energy savings across its 100+ stores.

ReaLift and Burju Shoes

Burju Shoes is a digitally native brand started by Burju Perez, who created fashionable dance shoes for women and men that are comfortable and stylish enough for everyday wear.

Since its inception, it has skyrocketed in growth and popularity. However, it faced a major challenge having sustainability at its forefront: sizing and fit are major reasons for excess returns and shipments.

Snappy Shopper

Snappy Shopper faced several challenges in implementing sustainable parcel delivery alongside Gander.

A primary hurdle was ensuring that integrating eco-friendly delivery solutions did not compromise the speed and convenience customers expected. Balancing sustainability with operational efficiency required coordination with local retailers and couriers to optimise delivery routes and reduce transportation emissions.

StrongPoint and MTG Technologies

MTG Technologies has co-developed the world’s first AutoStore Multi-Temperature Solution.

Installed at Haugaland Storhusholdning, this maximises storage efficiency, offering up to 4x more capacity compared to traditional systems while maintaining precise temperature control.

By significantly reducing energy consumption and space usage, MTG’s HVAC expertise ensures sustainable operations, positioning the company as a leader in green technology for retail logistics.
