European online retailer Benuta taps Constructor AI Shopping Assistant and product discovery platform
Benuta, an online store for rugs, has deployed Constructor’s e-commerce search and product discovery platform. In addition, it will use the firm’s AI Shopping Assistant, a conversational product discovery tool.
“Our customers are all unique, and their interior spaces reflect their styles and lives,” says Andreas Fischer, Head of E-commerce Technologies, Benuta.
“With Constructor’s personalisation features, we can help shoppers quickly and enjoyably discover their dream rugs. We’re excited to leverage advanced search options that guide our customers intuitively to the products that best suit their preferences - making their shopping experience both seamless and inspiring.”
Constructor’s search and product discovery solutions focus not just on relevance (“Is this a living room rug?”) but also attractiveness (“Will this rug be attractive to the shopper searching for it?”).
The company is using the technology across its European domains — in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK — and personalising for shoppers in their local languages.
Benuta currently uses it to personalise search and autosuggestion results and browse experiences across its online properties. By automating time-consuming manual tasks, such as detecting synonyms and adjusting for typos in online search, Constructor saves Benuta’s merchandisers time, so they can focus on more strategic and creative activities.
In addition, Merchant Controls and Intelligence gives actionable insights into how the decisions merchandisers make (e.g., slotting a rug at the top of results or boosting up higher margin home accessories) affect the site’s metrics as a whole.
In the next phases of its implementation, Benuta will roll-out personalised product recommendations and landing pages that cater to each shopper’s tastes, as well as AI Shopping Assistant (ASA).
“As they look to increase customer satisfaction, forward-looking retailers like Benuta are increasingly personalising shoppers’ interactions. We’re incredibly excited to be working with the Benuta team on this,” says Bernd Maehrlein, Constructor’s VP for EMEA.
“Whenever shoppers engage with Constructor powered results, that information gets fed back to our platform to optimise future experiences. With Benuta using Constructor across many areas - search, browse, recommendations, landing pages, AI Shopping Assistant, etc. - shoppers will benefit from tailored, cohesive and helpful experiences at every stage of their journey.”
2024 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
AI was a key focus area at the sixth edition of the RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards, sponsored by Vista Technology Support, Scala, CADS, 3D Cloud, Brightpearl by Sage’s Lightning 50, Business France, and Retail Technology Show 2025, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended last month’s gathering.
