Gopuff enlists Rick Ross and Wiz Khalifa for rapid delivery of New Year's Eve party essentials

Gopuff is teaming up with hip hop big hitters Rick Ross and Wiz Khalifa to ensure New Year’s Eve parties across the US are fully stocked.

On December 31st, Ross becomes Gopuff’s “Chief Delivery Boss” and calls Khalifa for backup, bringing rapid delivery of Luc Belaire bubbly and McQueen and the Violet Fog Gin (for customers 21+), plus appetizers and party favourites, snacks, paper goods etc.

“Real bosses know time is the ultimate luxury. We don't wait in lines; we let the celebration come to us. With Gopuff delivering the Luc Belaire bottles straight to the doorstep, ringing in the New Year like a legend isn't just smart - it’s too easy,” says Ross, aka Ricky Rozay.

"When Ross called me up to help deliver the party with Gopuff this New Year’s Eve, I jumped right in with McQueen Ultraviolet Gin,” adds Khalifa. “New year, new me. Same great gin decisions.”

In a holiday spot from Gopuff, Rick and Wiz send each other an order on New Year’s Eve filled with their favourite products. As the night goes on, things get weird, and the pair find themselves in a Freaky Friday like experience.

With proprietary technology and a nationwide logistics network, Gopuff claims to have a unique ability to introduce new products to customers across the country in an instant, with its model enabling low prices.

“The future of artist partnerships is ownership and expression, not endorsements,” says Harrison Combs, Director of Brand Marketing at Gopuff. “With Ross and Wiz, we provided the platform to bring fans into their world in a way that’s personal, cultural, and unique to both.”

Funding round

Chelsea Football Club co-owner Todd Boehly recently invested in Gopuff in a deal that valued the company at $8.5 billion, down from its pandemic era peak when rapid delivery firms were all the rage.

Boehly’s Eldridge Industries and Valor Equity Partners headed up a $250 million funding round that included new and current investors. Founded in 2013, Gopuff was worth $15 billion in 2021.

In recent years, competitors such as Gorillas and Getir have merged and exited the US. In western markets, a round of consolidation, such as Doordash’s $2.9 billion acquisition of Deliveroo, has helped cut operating costs.

Gopuff in response announced lay offs and overhauled its business model to include a greater focus on fresh produce, over the counter medications and partnerships with brands such as Starbucks.

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

On demand delivery was a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

VoCoVo, Everseen, Sensei, Gander, Iceland, Olio, Trust Retail, East of England Co-op, Lekkerland SE, Poq, Mamas & Papas, Varner, Sitoo, and Zebra Technologies were among our winners this year.

We received a record number of entries and many fantastic examples of the continued resilience and dynamism of the retail space during hugely challenging times.

For a full rundown of all of the shortlisted entries, click here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC in Central London on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
