Last week’s retail technology deals at a glance

RTIH rounds up the stand out retail systems deals, deployments and pilots from the past seven days, including Amazon, Walmart, The Very Group, M&S and Kroger.

Amazon is set to open an Amazon Fresh location in Camden, London.

It will be the fifth such convenience store to feature Just Walk Out Shopping tech in the UK, which was pioneered at the Amazon Go offering in the States.

The other four are in Ealing, Wembley Park, White City and Canary Wharf.

The Very Group has kicked off a partnership with digital experience analytics startup Contentsquare.

The company, which operates Very.co.uk and Littlewoods.com, says that the tie up will allow it to “put data and insight at the heart of every change we make by visually bringing our data to life and giving our teams instant access to the insight that matters”. 

It adds: “This will empower us to quickly make the right decisions for our customers, to create a world class customer experience at The Very Group”.

Saudi Arabian retailer Al Malki Group, which represents over 105 luxury brands in the region including L’Oreal Luxe, Dior Beauty, Richemont Group and Estee Lauder Companies, is implementing a new order management system (OMS) from Fluent Commerce.

European online food delivery venture Delivery Hero is partnering with RELEX Solutions to optimise its supply chain planning across all product categories.

RELEX’s AI driven forecasting and replenishment solution will service the company’s quick commerce across Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Domino’s UK and Ireland has launched a new app for Android and Apple users.

New features include light and dark mode views for greater functionality, Google and Apple Pay integration, and a time saving reordering feature.

US-based product discovery and sourcing platform RangeMe has launched in the UK. 

Buyers at British retailers will now be able to source over 750,000 products and connect with more than 200,000 suppliers. LloydsPharmacy is an early adopter of the platform on these shores.

ChargeBox has partnered with Bluewater to offer shoppers free mobile device charging.  

The Kent-based shopping centre is the first retail destination in Europe to deploy ChargeBox’s Fast Charge technology which, the company claims, is up to four times faster than most shoppers are used to at home. 

Medallia and KPMG UK have been selected to deliver Marks & Spencer’s new Voice of the Customer programme across its UK and International business.

Powered by Medallia’s technology and delivered by KPMG’s customer consulting team, this will bring together all of the retailer’s global data sources within one platform. 

The aim is to gain a live, connected view of the customer experience across its operations for the first time, support its business transformation and help use data to drive decision making.

Kroger has opened a customer fulfilment centre (CFC) in Groveland, Florida, powered by Ocado Group technology.

This marks Kroger's entry into the Florida market with an e-commerce delivery service that features vertical integration, machine learning, and robotics.

Singer and entrepreneur Rihanna’s Fenty Skin and Fenty Beauty brands have migrated their e-commerce stores from Salesforce Commerce to Shopify Plus.

Alfi has commenced operation of its digital advertising technology in kiosks located within London’s Hammersmith Broadway Shopping Centre.

It has signed a contract with the centre’s management firm, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH). 

Following deployment at Hammersmith Broadway, the pair have agreed to potentially expand Alfi’s AI SaaS platform to another 50 shopping centres/malls across the UK that are under LSH management.

Walmart has unveiled Me@Walmart, a new app built in-house by Walmart Global Tech for US store associates.

FoodStorm has launched FoodStorm Kiosk, a self-serve kiosk for in-store customers to place orders for catering, prepared food, deli, and bakery items.

This is currently live in a number of Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace locations across New York and New Jersey. Roche Bros. Supermarkets (MA) and Mollie Stone’s (CA) are in the implementation process.
